House Harlow is a relatively young noble house that has quickly risen through the political hierarchy. Originally the wardens of the Scarred Hills, they were granted titles of nobility in response to their efforts at keeping the monstrous races and ravenous beasts of the hills at bay. Living in the unforgiving hills and engaging in constant skirmishes with hostile creatures has made the house uncompromising and ruthlessly efficient. Combined with their newfound political power, this has given House Harlow a lust for expansion of land and influence.

The fringe of the Scarred Hills have never been particularly fertile, so most ruling houses dismissed the Harlow’s assent to nobility as a nominal honor to keep them committed to the front. That changed when the house stumbled upon a rich gold mine and a few scattered veins of iron. This gave House Harlow the leverage to expand towards the Feywood and farther south through an aggressive combination of political, economic, and sometimes, military tactics. This has made neighboring houses feel threatened by House Harlow’s rapid and expansive rise in power.
