Boyne is the seat of House Cumhaill and serves as the agricultural center of the Northlands. The surrounding area is covered with fields and pastures, with fallow lands serving as breeding and training grounds for horses and ponies. Produce, livestock and beasts of burden are shipped from Boyne throughout the kingdom. The town also watches the southern border of the Northlands, where the North Road crosses the Union River. This strategic location allows clever merchants to make a good profit importing and exporting goods, which House Cumhaill capitalizes on through shrewd tax policies. This constant trafficking and monitoring of goods and ideas has made the area very literate, which has combined with the fact that Boyne is a common resting point for northern travelers and bards to yield a community rich in lore and history. Boyne is home to the Hall of Heroes, an ancient performance hall where all stories, legends, discoveries and dissertations that come through it are recorded in a massive library complex. The original Hall was burned during the Elven Occupation, but it was recently restored through the patronage of House Finnegas and the Faith of the True Light. Though many original records were lost, the Hall of Heroes has already reclaimed much of its former fame as a center of learning and lore throughout the Northlands.
